Tiny Kox, chairman of the Unified European Left Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, told a news conference in Chisinau he is sure that presidential and parliamentary elections will take place after the September 5 constitutional referendum so that the political crisis will be overcome at the start of 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Tiny Kox, these elections are very important for Moldova given that the Moldovan authorities agreed with European officials that presidential and legislative elections will be held after the referendum. The European organizations' confidence in Moldova will depend on how it fulfills these promises. While in Chisinau on a visit, Tiny Kox had meetings with representatives of the Central Election Commission, specialists of the Council of Europe who assist the Commission in organizing the referendum, Communist MPs who form part of the Unified European Left Group, and Ana Gutu, the head of the Moldovan delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
