President Nicolae Timofti considers the European states and all the international human rights organizations should be informed by diplomatic ways about the situation of the schools working in the Transnistrian region.
The head of state spoke about this in a meeting with the principal of the Tiraspol Theoretical Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” Ion Iovchev and the principal of the Grigoriopol Lyceum “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” Eleonora Chercavski, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, Nicolae Timofti was informed about the conditions in which the eight Moldovan-administered Latin-script schools from the left bank of the Nistru River work. The principals said the unconstitutional Transnistrian authorities flagrantly violate the local children’s right to study in the mother tongue and persecute the functionaries of the given schools.
The President said these issues will be discussed at political and governmental level so as to identify solutions to them. He expressed his confidence that financial resources will be identified to support the teachers in Transnistria who work in very difficult conditions owing to the permanent pressure to which they are exposed by the illegal separatist bodies.
