The deadline for presenting the documents required for being registered as candidates in the snap local elections of May 29 expires today. The Central Election Commission said that 21 files were submitted in the eight localities where the mayor is to be elected on May 29, IPN reports. 

Sixteen candidates were fielded by political parties, while another five candidates will run independently. Five files were presented in the settlements where a new local council is to be elected – four by political parties and one by an independent.

Snap local elections on May 29 will take place in Ghetlova village of Orhei district, Horodiște village of Rezina district, Zastânca village of Soroca district, Moara de Piatră village of Drochia district, Tătărești village of Strășeni district, Glinjeni village of Fălești district, Zăicani village of Râșcani district, Hagimus village of Căușeni district, Lozova village of Strășeni district and Bobeica commune of Hâncești district.
