Transparency International (TI) Moldova called upon the representatives of all the branches of power to show will in the real reformation of the judicial system and to support the professional and integral staff of this system, increasing its credibility and improving its image. TI Moldova is concerned about the fact that large sums of money that came from international organizations for combating corruption were invested in secondary areas, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of TI Moldova, the Republic of Moldova received considerable amounts for studying and consulting the judicial system, but they were mainly used to improve the equipment of the system, not yet to reinvigorate it by actions aims at quality, including the integrity of judges.

The equipment offered by the Millennium Challenge Corporation for recording hearings with the aim of ensuring the impartiality, probity and credibility of justice is not used. The fact that the loud cases are sent for examination to the same judges means that the principle of random distribution of cases is not respected. The large number of cases lost by Moldova at the European Court of Human Rights and the lack of attitude towards the involved judges confirm the existence of serious problems in the justice system. The phenomenon of nepotism and the inappropriate use of the regime of immunities, which is extended to the private life, make the increase in the responsibility of judges impossible. The vehemence by which the senior administration of this system opposes the qualitative changes of personnel discredits the whole system, undermines the process of strengthening the rule of law and hampers the efficient combating of corruption in other areas.
