A child aged three fell from the fourth floor of an apartment building situated in Botanica district of Chisinau. The boy was rushed to the Municipal Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco” in a very serious state.

Chisinau Police Division press officer Natalia Stati has told IPN that the incident happened in the evening of June 15. The boy was in the apartment together with his grandmother. His mother was out at the shop.

Contacted by IPN for details, Vitalie Mihalchan, medical vice director at “Valentin Ignatenco” Hospital, said the child was admitted to the intensive care section in critical condition. He suffered a catatrauma. The parents should realize that the small kids must be under permanent supervision, even in the apartment. The children are tempted to explore everything, including the windows, and they perceive the mosquito net as something safe against which they can lean. A moment’s intention can have serious consequences for life or can have even more serious effects.

The grownups should not leave the children in the room alone when they ventilate this. They should better go for a walk at this moment. The children’s access to the balcony should be banned as this place is dangerous. The chairs, tables or wardrobes should not be placed near the window or at the balcony as the children can climb them and fall out.
