Three schools will be reopened in 2018

Three schools will be reopened in 2018. The decision was taken after the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research analyzed the impact of school optimization in various localities. Minister Monica Babuc told a press conference that several schools could and should be reopened, IPN reports.

Next semester, two schools will resume their activity: in Farladeni village, Hancesti district, with a 1st grade (8 students) and a 4th grade (16 students); and in Tepilova, Soroca, with 21 students. In September 1, 2018, the authorities will reopen the kindergarten-school in Bolohani, Orhei, with 17 kids in the 1st grade.

In March 2018, the Ministry will decide which other schools can be reopened. “If we hadn’t carried out this analysis and if we won’t complete the Strategy on the school network in Moldova, we risk committing many other errors. This can threaten the existence of many villages and we want to avoid this”, said Babuc. The officials added that 400 of the 1300 schools in Moldova are small and their number is growing because the demographic situation and migration flows.

The Strategy concerning the configuration of the school network for the 2018-2019 school year should be ready by the end of February.
