Kind-hearted people helped Nicolae, Ion and Marina Ciornea, the three orphans from Sarata Galbena in Hancesti district, to have again a shelter and a hope in the future. A sum of 162,000 lei was collected during the fund raising campaign themed “You Build the Future”, which was launched early in February by EveryChild Moldova. The money went to purchase a house for the Ciornea family, Info-Prim Neo reports. One year ago on a March day, the children lost their parents in a merciless fire that destroyed their house to the ground. Nicolae is seven years and a first grader at the Sarata Galbena high school. Ion and Marina, aged 14 and 15, go to a boarding school. Their grandmother Eudochia Palamari assumed overall responsibility for the three nephews. The assistance offered by the local public administration, the allowance of 200 lei given to orphans and the grandmother’s pension of 500 lei were too small to allow purchasing a new house and having a decent living. Therefore, the representative office of the public organization EveryChild in Moldova in concert with the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, the local public administration and a number of media institutions launched a fundraising campaign. Anatol Mamaliga, PR manager for EveryChild Moldova, has told Info-Prim Neo that 70,000 lei of the total sum was collected in the accounts opened at Mobiasbanca by EveryChild Moldova, 32,000 lei – in the accounts opened by the Sarata-Galbena Mayor’s Office. 60,000 lei was donated by the Adventist Church. Among the most important contributors were Moldova Agroindbank, Moldovian Airlines, InvestPrivatBank, the International Institute of Management, Confort, the shops Elefant and Bosch, EuroCreditBank. Metro Cash/Carry allowed placing boxes for collecting money inside its two stores in Chisinau, the publicity agency “Elardica” printed promotional butterfly badges free of charge, while Moldova’s Post Office distributed them to Chisinau residents at no cost. A lot of ordinary people participated in the campaign as well. Students from the Cahul Boarding School not only published an appeal in the paper “Tribuna copiilor” (“Children’s Tribune”), but also donated 800 lei collected together with the school’s staff to the Ciornea family. The house was bought for 123,000 lei. The rest of the money was used to repair the house and connect it to the natural gas pipeline. Now the three children and their grandmother have a house and 50 ares of land near the house with a bed of blooming strawberries. Anatol Mamaliga said that the contract for the purchase of the house is being legalized. The house will belong to the children, while the Mayor’s Office of the village will take the children under its guardianship. Until the youngest of the children comes of age, the house cannot be sold.
