Three resource centers for inclusive education open in Ialoveni

Children with special educational needs who were included in mainstream schools in Ialoveni district have become the beneficiaries of three resource centers for inclusive education, which were created by the local authorities in partnership with the NGO Lumos Foundation Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. At these centers, the children receive educational assistance and psychological counseling, are offered specific therapy and are involved in extra-curricular socialization activities. Lumos Foundation Moldova says that, thanks to these specialized services, the beneficiaries are performing better at school and have become more self-confident. “Both parents and teachers are convinced that only through the inclusion of every child in mainstream education can all the children in Moldova enjoy equal development opportunities”. The three centers in Ialoveni were created in line with the reform of the residential child care system in Moldova and with the efforts to promote inclusive education. The centers are hosted by the theoretical lyceums in Ialoveni town and the villages of Razeni and Tipala, and are equipped with computers and specialized teaching materials.
