Three persons, including a child, lost their lives in a fire that occurred in an apartment located on Columna St in Chisinau in the evening of December 18. The circumstances and cause of fire are yet to be determined, IPN reports.

According to neighbors, there were more persons inside the apartment. The firefighters managed to evacuate three persons. In the smoke-filled apartment, these found the bodies of a woman aged 86, a 40-year-old man and a child aged four. During 20 minutes, the firefighters struggled to resuscitate the child, but failed.

The preliminary investigations showed the fire didn’t spread. It affected only the bed and several other objects. According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the persons who were inside the apartment most probably suffered carbon monoxide poisoning.
