Three persons killed in last week’s fires
During the wine making season, the Fire Department records an increasing number of fires caused by lit cigarettes left by drunken persons. Last week alone, they recorded 36 fires on the territory of Moldova, in which three persons died and one got seriously injured.
According to the Fire Department, on September 17 a fire broke out in a house in Drochia town; the owner of the house died on the scene.
Another man, 45, died as a result of a fire caused by careless smoking. The bed sheets and the man’s belongings in his house in Parlita village, Ungheni district, burned completely.
On September 21, another fire caused by careless smoking killed a man in Ungheni city.
The Fire Department warns the citizens to be very cautious when smoking, and avoid smoking in bed, because most often the cigarette lit in such circumstances can be the last one.
This year, 2,004 fires have been recorded on the territory of Moldova, in which 124 persons, including 6 children died, and 296 houses and 103 vehicles were destroyed.
