Three persons hospitalized with general hypothermia
Three persons were hospitalized last night with general hypothermia, while a man with burns that he received in a fire in his house.
Anatol Proca, coordinating doctor at the Chisinau Emergency Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the 67-year-old man suffered burns of the first and second degree in a house fire in Ciorescu commune.
A man aged 36 tried to kill himself with acetic acid of 70 degrees. He is now in hospital. Another man aged 24 cut his veins, but was saved.
An inebriated woman in her 60s was found on Ion Luca Caragiale St in Chisinau with hypothermia and taken to the hospital. A homeless man aged 35 and another one in his 30s were rushed to Saint Trinity Hospital with general hypothermia.
Severe frost is forecast for the next days. Doctors say in order to avoid chilblains, one should protect the cheeks, nose, ears, fingers and toes that are sensitive to frost. If a chilblain appears, the place must be heated up with warm water. A doctor should be seen immediately.
At the same time, the clothes can prevent the body from losing warmth. It is recommended wearing several layers of clothing as they keep the warmth better and avoiding drinking alcoholic drinks that favor the lowering of the body temperature.
Yesterday and last night, the Chisinau Emergency Service recorded 781 calls, dealing with 89 cases of acute viral infection, 24 cases of flu, 34 cases of pneumonia, 78 causes of trauma and three strokes.
