Three persons die from pandemic flu in Transnistria
Seventy-seven cases of pandemic influenza A (N1H1) had been confirmed in the Transnistrian region by December 1. In three of the cases, the infected persons died – one in Tiraspol and two in Slobozia district, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Transnistria reports.
The risk of acute viral infections in Transnistria has increased during the last week. The children are the most vulnerable to this disease. Specialists of the Public Education Department in Tiraspol said about 300 students of the local schools had been diagnosed with acute viral infection over the weekend.
The Department's head Eugen Kakhanovschi said 33 classes are in quarantine, but the schools will not be yet closed. But if the situation worsens and the number of new flu cases exceeds the admissible limits, they could be closed.
The situation in kindergartens in Tiraspol is better. The number of cases of seasonal flu and acute viral infections is not higher than allowed.
Sources in the Tiraspol Hygiene and Epidemiology Center said 274 persons with seasonal flu symptoms sought medical assistance during the last 24 hours.
