Three pedestrians injured in road accidents
Three pedestrians were hospitalised on Tuesday, February 19, with injuries received in traffic accidents on Chisinau roads. Info-Prim Neo learned from Ion Roscovanu, Road Safety Inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police, that two of the victims are in the intensive care ward of the Emergency Hospital.
As a result of the first accident, occurred at about 10 AM on Mircea cel Batran Blvd a 70-year-old woman was severely injured after being hit by a Mazda vehicle.
The same ward admitted a man, 54, who was hit by an Isuzu passenger minibus on route 166. The accident took place on Dacia Blvd at 7 PM.
At the same hour, on Voluntarilor Street, a VAZ-21061 struck a 59-year-old man. The victim was transported to hospital with left shank fracture.
On Tuesday, 63 drivers were fined from 0.5 to 1 minimum salaries for driving unbuckled. The fines were applied by traffic agents as part of the special operation “Safety belts are life savers”, held in the Chisinau city in the period of February 18-24.
Under the Administrative Code and the Traffic Regulations, drivers and front right passengers are obliged to fasten their safety belt, Ion Roscovanu says. The rules make exceptions only for drivers making a reversing manoeuvre, driving instructors supervising beginners, and drivers of fire engines, medical vehicles, police cars, escorts.
On Tuesday, traffic agents applied 392 fines, including 42 for speeding, 8 for drunk-driving, 80 for performing wrong manoeuvres.
