If snap legislative elections were held next Sunday, three political parties would enter Parliament. These are the Party of Socialists (PSRM), which would gain 32.1% of the vote, the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) with 22.7% of the ballot and the Democratic Party (PDM) with 11.3% of the poll.
Doru Petruţi, director general of the sociological research company [imas], in a news conference at IPN said the PAS attracts the largest part of the electoral score of the ACUM bloc that includes the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA). The party led by Andrei Năstase would poll 1.7% of the vote.
Almost 13% of those surveyed didn’t know or didn’t answer who they would vote for. 33% of the respondents said they are for a coalition between the PSRM and the PDM. 31% said the snap elections are the best solution for the Republic of Moldova. Another 9% said they are for a coalition between the PSRM and the ACUM bloc, while 9% are for a coalition between the PDM and ACUM.
Some 36% of those surveyed said the replacement of the Government of Maia Sandu with that of Ion Chicu was appropriate. Another 35% of the respondents consider this was a bad move, while 29% didn’t know what to answer. 48% said the removal of the Sandu Government by Parliament by a no-confidence vote was a correct move, while 41% believe this was an incorrect move.
According to 40% of those interviewed, the Government led by Ion Chicu will rule better than the Government led by Maia Sandu. Another 35% consider this will not govern better, while 25% didn’t know how to answer.
The poll shows 65% of those surveyed believe the direction followed by the country is incorrect, 24% said it is good, while 11% could not answer. According to Doru Petrutsi, in September there were more voters of the right, especially of the ACUM bloc, who said that the direction is good. Now this opinion is shared by more voters of the left. The population sees how things stand in the country depending on the party that is in power.
President Igor Dodon is the most influential politician of Moldova. He is followed by the PAS leader Maia Sandu and the leader of the PDM Pavel Filip.
Some 58% of those polled would vote for Moldova’s entry into the EU, while 50% for its entry into the Eurasian Union. 34% would support the union with Romania, while 22% - the entry into NATO.
The poll was carried out during December 2-14 and covered a sample of 1,090 persons from 90 localities of Moldova.
