Three parties would enter Parliament after elections held next Sunday, POB

If parliamentary elections were held in Moldova next Sunday, only three parties would pass the election threshold and would enter Parliament. These are the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the Party “Acton and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Democratic Party (PDM). According to the Public Opinion Barometer (POB) that was presented by the Institute for Public Policy, the PSRM would gain 26% of the vote, the PAS – 12%, while the PDM – 7%. The other parties, including those that are now in power, would not pass the election threshold of 6%, IPN reports.

When asked to name a Moldovan political personality that they trust the most, 29% said they trust no one. 23% said they trust Igor Dodon, 9% – Maia Sandu, 5% – Pavel Filip, 4% - Andrei Nastase, 4% - Ilan Shor, 3% – Vlad Plahotniuc and 3% Vladimir Voronin. Iurie Leanca was mentioned by 2% of those polled, while Andrian Candu, Traian Basescu, Renato Usatyi, Zinaida Grecheanyi, Ion Ceban and Silvia Radu got by 1%.

According to the poll, 41% of those questioned said the current political situation in the country is slightly unstable, 36% said it is not at all stable, 19% said it is stable, 1% said it is very stable, while 3% didn’t know how to answer or didn’t answer.

Asked how they would vote in a referendum on Moldova’s entry into the European Union or in a referendum on entry into the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan) next Sunday, 55% said they would vote for entry into the EU, while 29% said they would vote against. 42% said they would vote for entry into the Customs Union, while 38% said they would vote against. However, if they were asked to choose between entry into the EU and entry into the Customs Union, 46% of those surveyed would choose the EU, while 34% the Customs Union. 14% said they haven’t decided, while 6% would not take part.

The poll was conducted during April 19 – May 9 and covered a sample of 1,115 people. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3%. Additionally, 409 persons were interviewed over the elections in Chisinau and the margin of error is +/- 4%, while over 200 persons were questioned over the elections in Balti and the margin of error is +/- 6%.
