Three parties in Moldova form coalition for future elections

The Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPPDA), the League of Towns and Communes and the Party of Change decided to establish a political and electoral partnership for the presidential and parliamentary elections. In a press conference hosted by IPN, through a joint statement the founding parties informed that they will mutually support the local elected officials and will cooperate at local level in the interests of citizens.

Promoting, at the level of policies and actions, the desiderata to strengthen local self-government by debureaucratizing LPAs, avoiding overlapping functions and ensuring proximity to citizens, countering and exposing the actions taken by criminal organizations and oligarchic groups to destabilize the country, participating based on a common list of candidates of the three political parties in the parliamentary elections, identifying and supporting a common candidate in the presidential election are among the set objectives, the head of the PPPDA women’s organization Stela Macari quoted from the statement.

PPPDA chairman Dinu Plîngău, said that due to the political maturity of the members of the three parties, with the massive support of a proper component of civil society, there will be achieved very good performance, “a difficult word to say in the European future, in the prosperous future for Moldova and the citizens of our state”.

Stefan Gligor, chairman of the Party of Change, said that after the local elections, during a very short period of time, it was decided to establish a sustainable political partnership in the context of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. “We, the representatives of those political parties standing before you today, come with a message of cohesion and consolidation. We come with a joint statement that lays the foundations of the coalition of pro-European forces and the creation of a viable, integral, strong pro-European alternative for the Republic of Moldova. We need wisdom, political maturity as never before,” stated Stefan Gligor, urging those watching the news conference to encourage them to develop this electoral political partnership and, if possible, to get involved in the process.

The deputy chairman of the Party of Change, mayor of Rezina Simion Tatarov called on the mayors to support this partnership. “Let’s strengthen together true local autonomy. Together we can succeed in decentralizing public finances for the communities we all come from,” urged the mayor of Rezina.

The deputy chairman of the Party of Change Sergiu Tofilat said that Moldova’s pro-European path is what unites the three parties. “We see all kinds of traitors trying to put on pro-European fur. Be vigilant, do not believe in electoral lies and alms. Those who are honest and fair do not come with alms,” stated Sergiu Tofilat.

The co-president of the League of Towns and Communes, mayor of Leova town Alexandru Bujorean said that this year’s general local elections were a test not only for local communities in Moldova, but also an exercise on which Moldova’s prosperous, democratic and European future depends. “In local elections, any political party can field candidates for particular elective positions and can contend in a more or less dispersed way, but in the presidential election and in the parliamentary elections, consolidation is needed,” urged Alexandru Bujorean said.
