Three parties would enter Parliament as a result of the vote in the national constituency. These are the Party of Socialists (PSRM) that would gain 43.8% of the poll, the electoral bloc ACUM with 23% and the Democratic Party (PDM) with 22.7%. The research authors anticipate the Shor Party, for which 5.4% of those polled would vote, could also enter the legislative body given the margin of sampling error and the concentration of this party’s voters. The poll was taken by Date Inteligente SRL (iData) during February 6-13.
In a news conference at IPN, the poll authors said the seats of MP in the national constituency would be distributed as follows: PSRM – 23 seats, the bloc ACUM and PDM – by 12 seats and the Shor Party - three seats. Research director Veronica Ateș said the data collected by operators show those who said they would vote for the PDM and ACUM didn’t seem very decided, while those who said they would vote for the Shor Party were very sure about their electoral option.
Executive director Mihai Bologan noted that 77% of the poll respondents are sure they will take part in the parliamentary elections of February 24. Over 12% said they will probably take part, while 6% are sure they will not take part. Almost 4% said they haven’t yet decided, whole 1% do not know or didn’t answer.
The respondents were asked for what candidates they would vote in the single-member constituency, with the question being with open. Slightly over 8% said they would vote for Igor Dodon, over 5% for Vlad Plahotniuc, over 4% for the PSRM’s candidate, while over 3% for the PDM’s candidate. 3% answered Andrei Năstase, 2.7% – Maia Sandu, 2.7% – Ilan Shor. Other personalities garnered less than 2%.
Asked what Moldovan politician they trust most, 24% of those interviewed answered Igor Dodon, 10.4% – Vlad Plahotniuc, 6.7% – Maia Sandu, 6.1% – Andrei Năstase, 4% – Pavel Filip and 3.6% – Ilan Shor. Other politicians were mentioned by less than 2% of the respondents, while over 25% said they do not trust anyone.
Asked if a consultative referendum will be held simultaneously with the parliamentary elections, 59.6% of those polled said “yes”, up from the previous poll (45.3%). The respondents who don’t know that a referendum will take place made up 39.1%. 76.7% of those surveyed said they are for reducing the number of MPs from 101 to 61, while 16.4% said they are against. Also, 70.8% of those polled said they are for recalling MPs, while 16.8% said they are against.
The poll covered a sample of 1,123 persons from 76 settlements. The margin of sampling error is 2.9%.
