Three National Patrolling Inspectorate employees dismissed for passive corruption

Three employees of the National Patrolling Inspectorate were discharged from posts for passive corruption after the media disseminated video sequences where police officers take bribe from a driver, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the National Patrolling Inspectorate, the Ministry of the Interior’s internal security and corruption combating service launched an internal inquiry and identified the three patrolling inspectors and the author of the audio-video recordings. The driver intentionally influenced the inspectors to commit acts of passive corruption. The 35-year-old man offered the policemen bribe for not holding him accountable for violating the traffic rules. Afterward, the driver showed the recordings to the inspectors and blackmailed them.

The police later established that the author of the recordings intentionally committed acts of active corruption. The National Patrolling Inspectorate employees who appeared in the video sequences were dismissed from the police bodies.
