Three mural paintings were unveiled in the municipality of Strășeni in the framework of an urban revitalization project.
Elena Pereu, deputy mayor of Strășeni, has told IPN that two of the murals are in the Public Park “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt”. One of them is entitled “Peace and Friendship”, while the second – “Moldovan Belt”. The third mural – “Clean Town” – was made in the yard of the municipal communal services enterprise “Gospodăria Comunală Strășeni”. One more mural will soon appear on one of the streets of Strășeni.
The paintings were made by two Moldovan artists who were chosen at a contest and by two painters from Poland.
“Such projects stimulate creative thinking and improve the image of ruined areas. By such paintings, we revitalize places and revive areas that are really beautiful,” stated Elena Pereu.
The pilot-project “Urban Revitalization by Mural Paintings” was launched on the initiate of the Polish Institute in Bucharest in partnership with the Natural Network for Urban Revitalization in the Republic of Moldova with support from the Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova. According to Elena Pereu, the municipality of Strășeni is the first locality in the Republic of Moldova where such murals were made.
