Three more persons accused of faking a rape against former border police officer Gheorghe Petic in October 2018 will appear before judges. In the investigated period, one of the three persons held executive posts at the Ministry of the Interior, the second was close to the first, while the third person was a functionary of the State Chancellery, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the criminal case was started in 2019, being separated from a case generically called Division No. 5 of the Ministry of the Interior. The accused are from Chisinau, Orhei and Ungheni and are aged between 39 and 52.
They are accused of abusing office and of framing Gheorghe Petic for rape, of violating the right to personal life and of influencing the so-called “victim” to make false statements and to file a complaint.
The defendants face three to eight years in jail.
The cases against two more culprits within this case were sent to court earlier. The investigations continue.
