Three more officials join Property in Sight Campaign

Three more officials – Information Development Minister Pavel Buceatchi, MP Veaceslav Untila and Mayor Iurie Vintila of Carpineni, Hancesti – revealed information on their property and earnings for 2008 as part of the Property in Sight Campaign, conducted by the Independent Press Association (API) and the Anticorruption Alliance, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Buceatchi's statements, his family earned a total of 111,604.46 lei in wages in 2008. The minister didn't present information on the property owned by his family. MP Veaceslav Untila, who is also vice president of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party, revealed a payroll of 226,805.53 lei for him and his wife, 160,000 lei in dividends from Moldcargo, and 61,825 lei from other sources. The MP owns one-third of a house and a 70 sq.m. apartment in Chisinau, a 24 sq.m. garage, and a BMW car. Mayor Iurie Vintila declared a payroll of 51,923.01 lei, income of 60,000 lei from the sale of a car, and of 91,000 lei from other sources (the salary of his wife in Italy). He owns a 134 sq.m. house, a 2.059 ha plot of land in Carpineni, and a Tigo car. Earlier, the Property in Sight Campaign was joined by Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and Floresti Mayor Iurie Tap. Parliament members, ministers, local councilors, public functionaries and other officials who have nothing to hide and promote transparency in incomes are encouraged to join the campaign by publishing their reports on income and property on API's webpage www.api.md or by sending scanned copies at obiectiv@api.md.
