The Ministry of Health on December 17 reported 24 deaths associated with COVID-19. Among the victims are three doctors, IPN reports.

Family doctor Sergey Dolapciu, 58, worked at the Comrat Health Center. Oncologist Nicolae Pînzari, 54, headed the Proctology Department of the Oncological Institute of Chisinau. Surgeon Arcadie Natrashevschi, 66, worked at the Ungheni District Hospital.

A number of 1,590 new infections were confirmed today, with 79 of them involving healthcare workers. Almost 4,000 tests were done and 3,472 of them were primary ones.

More than 3,500 patients with COVID-19 are in hospitals at present. As many as 265 of them are in a serious state and 55 were put on a ventilator.

Moldova so far has got 131,900 infections with COVID-19. The death toll stands at 2,674.
