Three more candidates await CEC registration
Two more parties and one independent candidate presented today their bids to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to become electoral contenders in the parliamentary race, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Following a draw, the Sociopolitical Movement Ravnopravie (Equity), the Social Democratic Party, and Victor Stepaniuc were temporarily assigned nos. 18, 19 and 20 in the ballot, respectively.
Ravnopravie leader Valeri Klimenko stated that his party's slate includes all the ethnic minorities living in the Republic of Moldova as well as Moldovans who believe that Moldova is not Romania.
Victor Selin, the president of the Social Democratic Party, said he is rather pleased with the 19th place as he was born on 19th. He also said that his party will criticize the Communist Party, which refused to accept their proposal to sign a 'non-aggression memorandum'.
Victor Stepaniuc, who quit the Communist ranks late last year, said he decided to run unaffiliated because most of the parties discredited themselves in the last two decades. Stepaniuc believes that people need independent candidates and that his election to Parliament will be a trial for how a mixed model of electing MPs would work in Moldova.
