Three men steal money, valuables from Chisinau monastery
Three Ocnita men were arrested after allegedly stealing about 200,000 lei, foreign currency, two firearms and other valuables from St. Teodor Tiron Monastery in Chisinau.
According to the Chisinau General Police Commissariat, the men were arrested on Thursday early morning by a police team patrolling Centru as they were attempting to flee the capital in a taxi.
It is believed that the suspects picked the lock to get into the monastery.
The suspects were charged with grand theft, which is punishable by 7 to 12 years' imprisonment.
