Three men drowned in the Nistru River and in two lakes in Moldova on June 16. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, a 53-year-old man lost his life while swimming in the Nistru near Vadul lui Vodă town. Rescuers were called out to take the body out.

The second incident happened in Sângera town of Chisinau municipality. A man aged 27 drowned in a lake situated near the town. The same day, a 48-year-old man died in the waters of a lake in Puhoi village of Ialoveni district.

The population is warned to avoid swimming in places that are not intended for the purpose and that do not have rescue units.

At least 26 persons, five of whom children, died drowned in Moldova’s rivers and lakes so far this year, IPN reports.
