Three members of an organized criminal group – a woman and two men – were sentenced to 37 years’ imprisonment together for preparing, purchasing, keeping and taking drugs, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The woman was sentenced to ten years in jail, while the men to 12 and, respectively, 15 years behind bars. In April – May, the culprits prepared methamphetamine, which is a psychotropic drug, and kept it in their apartments situated in Botanica district of Chisinau. The offenders sold a part of the drugs to investigators under cover.
According to prosecutors, within two months the apartments where there were sold drugs were visited by about 30 persons, including students. Being under the influence of drugs, they remained in the given apartments for several days. The ‘clients’ were filmed by a camera placed by the head of the group with the aim of recording the number of those who visited the apartment.
This year so far, the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office sent 32 criminal cases against 26 criminal groups trading in drugs to court. Another eight similar cases are being investigated. The prosecutors obtained the arrest of 75 persons suspected of involvement in such networks.
