Three IPB top managers arrested

25-day arrest warrants were issued for the director of the failed Inbestprivatbank (IPB), Ion Chirpalov, and two other top managers, Alexandr Voznisenschi and Lilian Ceban, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption announced in a press release the three were arrested in connection with investigations into questionable lending practices which brought great damage to the bank. Chirpalov and Voznisenschi are held in the Center's remand unit while Ceban is under house arrest. The three managers now face fines of up to 60,000 lei or imprisonment terms of up to 7 years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of up to 5 years, the Center said. The ordinance on the liquidation of the failed bank has been issued today, June 23, in the Official Gazette.
