Moldova now has the greatest European integration chances and the Moldovan authorities must profit from the created situation, ex-President of Serbia Boris Tadic, ex-President of Poland Aleksander Kwasnewski, and ex-President of Albania Rehner Meidani said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.
According to the three former heads of state, this special chance appeared amid the crisis in Ukraine. “It is now very important not to lose time and to make maximum use of the created situation in order to integrate into Europe,” said Aleksander Kwasnewski.
Rehner Meidani considers that the main problem faced by Moldova in the European integration process is the divergent positions of the political parties and people on this process. “In Albania, there was consensus on the European course. It is very hard to do something when the opinions are differing. I think that it is now important to convince the citizens about the priorities of the accession to the EU,” said the former President of Albania.
In the same connection, Boris Tadic said that the lack of confidence in oneself and the people’s prejudice are an obstacle in the European integration process in Moldova.
The former European heads of state agreed that Moldova has an enormous economic development potential in the agricultural sector and the opening of the European market will help revitalize and develop this sector. “Moldova produces remarkable wines that can become competitive on the European market,” added the former President of Serbia.
Referring to the experience of their states, the three invitees to the program said that when the European integration process is over, the phenomenon of massive migration of the population will disappear, the corruption will diminish significantly, while the people will feel confident when they see the first indicators of a better life. Moldova will be able to ensure security and to cope with the economic pressure coming from outside.
