Three drownings and four persons saved over a week
Three persons downed in the municipality of Chisinau municipality last week. Four persons were saved by rescuers. The authorities warn that swimming in the municipal ponds is banned, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Galina Leahu, deputy head of the Green Areas Association, Monday said that two cases of drowning happened in Vadul lui Voda town. The victims were a man aged 24 and another one of 45. The third person – a 23-year-old man – drowned in the lake in Ghidighici.
Galina Leahu stated that the four persons rescued last week were all under the influence of alcohol. “There are six beaches in the municipality of Chisinau. The beach in the Park “Valea Morilor” has been laid out recently. Swimming in lakes is prohibited,” she said.
The head of the municipal Public Health Center Constantin Rimis said that the quality of water and sand in most of the lakes does not meet the sanitary norms. The persons who come into contact with the contaminated sand and water risk catching skin and acute diarrheic diseases. Rimis stressed that the sand on beaches should be changed, not only refined.
According to the municipal police, five cases of drowning were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau over a month. In most of the cases, the persons were inebriated.
