Three city halls in the south of Moldova - Cahul, Leova and Cantemir - are connected to Alerte.md, an instrument implemented by Mediapoint for a smart administration of cities through various digital solutions.
The national platform Alerte.md was launched in May 2021. The municipality of Cahul was the first one in the country to be connected to the platform. The launch event of the platforms Alerte.md/Leova and Alerte.md/Cantemir took place recently. The three city halls have dedicated versions of the platform that they operate independently.
“This instrument will make the city of Cahul, the capital of the South, an example for other institutions, authorities, local administrations, as to how to improve their relationship with citizens and how to become more digital in providing public services and communicating with those for whom we are employed in these positions”, said the mayor of Cahul Nicolae Dandiș.
On Alerte.md, citizens can report with a single click problems in the city to the local authorities, can follow online the progress of resolving the complaint, but also the response of the city administration, can launch citizen initiatives for the city and get community support through a voting system, can participate in surveys launched by town halls, contributing to decision-making, and not least, they can subscribe to important notifications in the city or area where they live.
The Leova City Hall attaches great importance to transparency in public decision-making and communication with the city’s residents. “Many of the problems that appear daily in the city could be solved quickly if the City Hall knew about it immediately. That is why the Alerte.md platform and the offer to collaborate are extremely important for us. I want to thank the donors who made it possible for the Leova City Hall to operate this platform for free. The effectiveness of this platform is obvious and the big difference compared to the classic mechanisms is the fact that the problems that will be reported online on Alerte.md/Leova can be systematized by categories, can be monitored real-time and can be seen immediately by the City Hall”, said the mayor of Leova Alexandru Bujorean during the launch event.
Through this project, the city of Cantemir aims to be closer to the citizens. “The troubled times we are living now make it difficult to maintain physical contacts. So Wwe hope that thanks to Alerte.md/Cantemir we will have the opportunity to talk online with the population, to hear the opinion of the city’s residents. Through the surveys that will be published, we will have the opportunity to present to the council the problems and visions of the citizens, so that we can make decisions and direct funding towards the most pressing areas”, said the mayor of Cantemir Roman Ciubaciuc.
The national platform Alerte.md allows every city in Moldova to have a dedicated version that is administered by the town hall. City halls that are willing to adopt this digital instrument for communicating with citizens are invited to send a letter of intent to contact@alerte.md. Each local version will be adapted to the context and needs of each town hall.
The national platform Alerte.md was developed by Mediapoint with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy.
