Three Chisinau pedestrians injured in road accidents
Three Chisinau pedestrians were hospitalised with various traumas resulted from road accidents. Ion Roscovanu, Road Safety Inspector of the Chisinau Traffic Police, told Info-Prim Neo that despite multiple warnings, pedestrians continue to violate the street-crossing rules, risking their lives, while drivers forget to give pedestrians priority. On Monday, 4 February, three more pedestrians were injured.
The first accident happened at about 11 AM at the intersection of the streets Ismail and Bernardazzi. A young woman, 20, student of the European University, was crossing the street regularly when she was hit by a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old young man. The girl was admitted to hospital with brain concussion and multiple facial injuries.
At the intersection of the streets Ierusalim and Petru Rares, a 60-year-old woman was hit by an Audi vehicle. The woman, who stepped into the street without looking, suffered soft tissue and femur injuries.
An elderly man, 60, was hit by a Honda Civic car when trying to cross the street on the red colour. As a result, the man had his right calf fractured.
On Monday, traffic agents registered 3 road accidents which resulted in 3 injured persons, and 14 accidents without victims. 12 drivers were detected driving drunk, and 16 unbuckled. 85 drivers were fined for speeding and 25 pedestrians were fined for crossing the street in interdicted places.
