A man from Cantemir district is investigated for killing his three minor children. The 34-year-old man alerted the police after he committed the crime. The tragedy happened in Valcele village of Cantemir district on the night of July 16, IPN reports.

The children were aged one, four and six years. When the police officers came to the scene, they found the children dead with neck stab wounds. The man tried to commit suicide by cutting his throat. He was rushed to the Cantemir District Hospital in a serious state.

The police said the man wasn’t seen drunk and was a caring father. In the recent past, he looked after the children himself because his wife aged 25 worked in Chisinau.

A criminal case over cruel murder was started against the man. He is to be subject to a psychiatric assessment to see if he was mentally healthy when he committed the crime. If he is tried, he will face up to 20 years in jail.
