Three card forgers jailed 11 years
Three Romanian nationals have been jailed by the Botanica District Court for 11 years on charges of misappropriating funds in extremely large amounts, of fabricating and putting into circulation cloned credit cards and vouchers, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to anticorruption prosecutors, the investigations revealed that the three persons are part of a criminal group specialised in fabricating credit cards, storing information and putting forged cards into circulation. In March 2006, the three persons fabricated 213 bank cards and put 123 of them into circulation, taking from the network of cash machines, in particular from the accounts of different issuing banks from the USA and Italy, about 162,000 lei and attempting to steal another 178,000 lei.
The court ordered to confiscate cash totalling MDL 89,000, USD 8,200, EUR 710, and a Volkswagen-Golf car.
