The persons who rest nearby and swim in the lakes of Chisinau can catch enterocolitis, viral hepatitis A and meningitis. The quality of the water and sand in the recreational areas “Valea Trandafirilor’’, “Rascani”, “La Izvor” “Vatra” and the Nistru River leaves much to be desired so that the residents of Chisinau risk getting infected when swimming and sunbathing, the head of the Municipal Preventive Medicine Center Iurie Panzaru said in Monday's meeting of the City Hall. The easily alterable food sold in insanitary conditions is another source of infection. Among these, the chief sanitary inspector mentioned the shaurma and kebab. Iurie Panzaru said persons holding high ranking positions exert pressure on him when he takes step to close such businesses, but he did not give names. Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca instructed Iurie Panzaru and the municipal police to suspend the work of the companies that break the law. If they do not want to obey the law, these companies should be closed, he said.
