Thousands of students and teachers took part in school year start festivities

On September 1, the bell announced the beginning of the new school year in the over 1,300 pre-university education institutions of Moldova. President Nicolae Timofi attended the school year start festivity held at the Chisinau Lyceum “Spiru Haret”, where one of his sons studied, IPN reports.

“We care a lot about the young generation. We want you to get where you want to and to have fundamental training so as to follow the road of life. The teachers have the important task of educating you appropriately,” said the head of state.

Nicolae Timofi noted that the authorities will take all the necessary measures for the education system to be up to date and for the people to be sure that the school program offers the students education of the highest quality. “I warmly wish you an easy year,” he said, addressing the attending students, teachers and parents.

Principal of “Spiru Haret” Lyceum Victor Ambroci called on the students and teachers to adopt an open and modern, profound and constructive attitude. “We waited for you impatiently. A lot of work was done in summer for you to feel comfortable at our school and to put into practice all the constructive ideas you gathered during the vacation. I’m sure that this new school year will be a year of accomplishments,” he stated.

“Your institution has a nice and positive image that includes a good image of the teachers,” said the head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Tverdohleb. She assured that the local public administration will continue to support the institution.

As many as 353,000 schools start the education process today. In a congratulatory message, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca says that education represents one of the major sectors of the state. “Our goal is to create favorable conditions for the work of the teaching staff and for the students and to improve the equipment of schools so that the education process meets the contemporary European standards,” stated the Premier. He recommended the students to learn for life, not for grades, while the teachers to be near them.
