The civic movement “Hai Moldova” joins the international effort and commits itself to gather together 180,000 people and to collect 1,800 tonnes of garbage as part of World Cleanup Day on September 15 this year.
According to the organizers, by this event they aim to increase awareness of the need to gather and recycle garbage, IPN reports.
Globally the event in 2018 will engage 150 countries and 5% of the world’s population—that’s 380 million volunteers—for one big World Cleanup Day and to collect 500 million tonnes of trash from nature and public areas.
“Hai Moldova”, together with other public associations and nongovernmental organizations, forms part of the team “Let’s Do It World” that conducts a cleanup campaign staged simultaneously in over 150 countries, including Moldova.
