Thousands of families in Cotul Morii village of Hancesti district are leaving their homes, seeking refuge from the floodwater. Mihail Harabagiu, the head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, told Info-Prim Neo almost all the over 2,000 inhabitants of the village gather their belongings and go to live at relatives and friends in other settlements. Only the about 50 elderly persons refuse to leave their houses. Nemteni village was flooded after the Prut overflowed its banks. Dancu village in the same district is also in danger of being flooded. Access to Nemteni is only by boat. The floodwater is 2-3 meters in depth. The local authorities announced 100 houses caved in. The Government set up the hotline 725-888 that the persons affected by floods can use to seek help.
