More than 64,000 residents of Chisinau have been left without water supply because of two major pipe ruptures that occurred Thursday, June 17, in two different parts of the city. Dorina Cruc, spokesperson for the Civil Protection Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the first breakdown occurred around 16.00, on Calea Orheiului Street, during the construction of a fuel station. A 1x6 meter section of the pipe was damaged. As a result, consumers in Rascani sector, Calarasi Street in Buiucani and the suburban town of Gratiesti have been left without water supply. At 9.00, Friday, 18 employees of Apa-Canal Chisinau and 7 equipment units were deployed to fix the ruptures. The same day, 500 consumers on Tiraspol Street, 1st to 7th blocks, and Iurie Gagarin Avenue, 5th to 11th blocks, have been left without water supply as well, after a 500mm pipe broke down. Meanwhile, the Weather Service forecast 27 degrees Celsius in Chisinau for today.
