Thousands of people have come today to the National Palace to express condolences and lay flowers at the coffin of the genius of the Moldovan light music, Mihai Dolgan. The death of the great artist, lucid and courageous till his last moments, grieved all Moldova’s people. With requiems and a collage from his works in the background, the people keep passing for the last time next to the one who has written the music representing Moldova, who has loved this country and has always sung it. Musicians, singers, actors, directors, politicians and the country’s President bowed to the memory of the artist. Tears, regrets and the permanent “May God rest him in peace” persisted in the hall of the National Palace, which hosted so many concerts of Mihai Dolgan’s “Noroc” band. Singer Iurie Sadovnic has told Info-Prim Neo that, in the small constellation of Moldovan artists, a star burnt out – yet the most shining and the most intelligent star – only a day after turning only 66 years. The artist had no more power to struggle with the hard disease and left for good. And God loves talents, too... Grieved, the artist’s son, Radu Dolgan, says he cannot imagine how his further life will go, as Mihai Dolgan was the ideal he has always tended to. Unfortunately, his parents’ multiple tours deprived him, when a child, of the joy to be always near his idol. There is no human being in this country not knowing Dolgan’s work, or not humming any of his over 1,500 songs. The ones having come to say the last farewell to Mihai Dolgan, especially musicians, have talked with Info-Prim Neo’s reporter about the one having marked their lives. “It’s become sadder in Moldova. Mihai Dolgan was a great Artist and great Man of culture. He loved his nation a lot... and deserves to remain always in the memory of this nation. A man bewailed by the whole nation. Such gifted people are born but once in one hundred years. He was extraordinary, special, and his songs will always linger in our hearts. The guitars will always cry over the loss of another great Artist. We love you, master!!!” The Mihai Dolgan’s death represents a great loss for the Moldovan music, the artist practically identifying with Moldova’s light music. Seen off by thousands of people, Mihai Dolgan has been buried in the Central Cemetery on the Armeneasca street in Chisinau.
