Political analyst Victor Gurau, who is a substitute candidate of the Communist faction on the Chisinau Municipal Council, said none of the Communist MPs was prevented from voting, as Marian Lupu asserted. Those who wanted could vote, after renouncing the party membership, Victor Gurau said in the program “Fabrica” on Publika TV, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”I stayed at a table with several Communists when the presidential elections were taking place in Parliament. The members of the PCRM were not held by force somewhere. These people have collective obligations. If they wanted, they could vote after renouncing the party membership,” said Victor Gurau. According to him, Marian Lupu should understand that his resources have been used up. “He polled not 59, but 58 votes. This is a reason for concern. Not only the Communists do not support him. They use an instrument that is not at all democratic. We speak about the presidential elections as if about a show,” stated Victor Gurau. In the same program, political analyst Igor Botan said the Communist MPs who were ready to vote for Marian Lupu did not want Mihai Ghimpu to become Head of Parliament. “If Marian Lupu runs again, there will be only two outcomes – either Lupu is voted in or there will be early elections. The politicians will try to find out who the unmarked ballot belonged to,” said the analyst. The president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov considers the most important lesson is that one should be sure of wining the necessary number of votes in the elections. “The country is again pushed towards early elections. The responsibility will be borne by those who say they think about the country, but do not take part in the presidential electrons. Anyone can be the candidate for the presidency. It is the alliance’s responsibility. We may review the AEI agreement,” said Dumitru Diacov. Political analyst Anatol Taranu believes that Marian Lupu has no more chances of being elected. “I’m almost sure that Vlad Filat will not accept an agreement behind his back and will not allow somebody to buy several votes. The Liberal-Democrats will not vote the same way in a month,” he stated, adding there must be identified a candidate outside Parliament, who would poll the necessary number of votes. In the December 16 elections, the only candidate for the presidency Marian Lupu won 58 votes of the 61 needed. The group of Socialists voted against, while one ballot was invalidated. New elections will be held within 30 days.
