Those who left PCRM did not want to struggle as part of opposition, Voronin
Seven MPs left the Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM) during a year. The party’s leader Vladimir Voronin is convinced that those who left did not want to struggle as part of the opposition because they got used to being in power.
“The persons who left did it because they no longer had access to the government’s ‘pig bowl’. This is the reason, not the fact that they wanted to create other parties, Lilliputian organizations,” Vladimir Voronin told Info-Prim Neo in an interview of the series “Year 2012 in Moldova’s and Moldovans’ life” {that was published on December 10, 2012}.
The Communist leader said that two days before leaving, some of them took part in the party’s plenary congress and accepted executive positions. “They are not concerned about the work of the opposition and the struggle. They got used to being chiefs very quickly. But when the power was taken over by the alliance and they remained without posts and possibilities, they decided to defect. They do not want to be without posts for four years, to have meetings with the people, to take part in protests,” stated Vladimir Voronin.
The first three MPs left the Communist parliamentary group in November 2011. They were Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi, and Veronica Abramchuk. Vadim Misin, Oleg Babenko and Tatiana Botnariuc defected from the group in June 2012, while Ion Ceban at the end of September.
The series of interviews “Year 2012 in Moldova’s and Moldovans’ life” that was launched by Info-Prim Neo on December 6 was opened by Prime Minister Vlad Filat. The next interviews will contain opinions about the performance of the passing year stated by the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Jennifer Brush, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, expert of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT Corneliu Gurin, director of the National Anticorruption Center Viorel Chetraru, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Moldova Boris Galca, head of the Community of Moldovans in Quebec Ala Mandacanu, and singer Cristofor Aldea Teodorovici.
