Owners of motor vehicles registered abroad will be able to pay vignettes at ATMs too. For the purpose, the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure consulted operators that provide electronic payment services through ATMs and signed five new contracts for the provision of vignette payment services, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, the move is aimed at facilitating border crossing and at avoiding the formation of lines during the Easter holidays. Thus, based on the signed contracts, the drivers have an alternative possibility of paying vignettes, through self-service payment terminals.

With the implementation of this service, the vignette could be paid at over 1,000 ATMs located all over the country daily, at any hour.  The measure will help reduce lines for paying the vignette at banks. As of February 20, 2017, the vignette can be also paid online on www.vinieta.gov.md or evinieta.gov.md.
