Thoroughbred horse from Moldova to take part in Russian President’s Cup
A thoroughbred horse for Moldova for the first time will participate in Russian President’s Cup that will be held in Moscow on July 18, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting RIA Novosti.
The outgoing president of Moldova Vladimir Voronin will watch the horserace together with other heads of state from the Commonwealth of Independent States, who have been invited by the Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
“Moldova will be represented by a five-year-old English thoroughbred horse that will compete in the 2.4 km race,” said Alexandr Tuchak, president of the Moldovan Horseracing Federation.
“Once, the horses from Moldova took part in practically all the international competitions and achieved excellent results. There was a horse farm in Ungheni town, where there were bred English thoroughbred horses. The horse of the Soviet political leader Leonid Brezhnev was also kept there,” Tuchak said.
The president of the Horseracing Federation considers that Moldova’s participation in such important competitions can improve the country’s image and increase the popularity of horseracing in Moldova.
