This Government should be given a chance, U.S. ambassador

U.S. Ambassador to Moldova William Moser considers the politicians who formed the new Moldovan Government should be given a chance to show if they fulfill the promises made. The diplomat made the statement in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

William Moser said there is nothing bad in the fact that the ruling politicians divided between them the ministries and institutions, but those elected to posts must serve the people’s interests not parties’ interests. Also, Moldova must fight ardently to combat corruption and selective justice.

According to the ambassador, the opposition must play a constructive role in the political life as such a position is fundamental for democracy.

William Moser also referred to the situation in the banking system. “The international community is still concerned about the situation in the Moldovan banking system,” said the official. He informed that he repeatedly called on the authorities to improve the legal framework. Something was changed, but there are yet problems. William Moser urged the National Bank of Moldova not to allow dubious moves by commercial banks.

The diplomat said he wants the Moldovan politicians to work for the people, while the people should be active and demand results from those who administer the country.
