Third candidate to run for President of Transnistria
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Transnistria registered on Friday, November 17, Nadejda Bondarenko as candidate for the office of separatist region’s president.
Nadejda Bondarenko is the secretary of the central committee of the region’s Communist Party and the editor-in-chief of the “Pravda Pridnestrovia” newspaper.
Bondarenko is the third candidate registered by the unrecognized authorities from Tiraspol. Until now, the candidates running for president are the present separatist leader Igor Smirnov and the businessman Piotr Tomali.
The elections for the supreme office of the so-called Nistean Republic will take place on December 10, 2006. Moldova and the international community declared they will not recognize the results of the elections.
