There is hope that money stolen from three banks will be recovered, experts

Following the hearing held in Parliament, there is hope that the money stolen from three Moldovan banks will be recovered. The issue was discussed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Media analyst Cristian Tabara considers a part of the stolen money could be recovered. “The feeling left by those who spoke in Parliament is that they know where the money is. The situation is rather difficult, but the money could be recovered. I don’t think someone will dare to make false statements in such a situation. I also found out that not US$1billion, but US$460 million was stolen. It is already better. I don’t think the governor of the National Bank told lies. The situation is too delicate,” he stated.

Journalist Constantin Olteanu also considers the money can be found. “I think the state institutions know something. They didn’t tell everything in Parliament during the hearing and could not say it,” he stated.

The head of the Democratic Action Party Mihai Godea believes the money can be recovered if the investigation is continued by the U.S. company Kroll. “Kroll must complete its investigation. There is a precedent in Tatarstan, where money was stolen from the banking system by the same schemes as in our country. Owing to Kroll, 90% of that money was recovered,” he said.

Constitutional law expert Vitalie Catana also considers the money can be found. “I listened to the statements made by Viorel Chetraru. What he said inspires hope that the money will be recovered,” he stated.
