The changes that are taking place in the Alliance for European Integration give signals that more Cabinet reshuffles will follow, said Cornel Ciurea, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, referring to the replacement of the minister of youth and sport by the Liberal Party (PL). “It’s not excluded that the Democratic Party (PDM) will follow this example because there is room for renewals and the governmental team may suffer certain changes,” Cornel Ciurea stated for Info-Prim Neo. According to him, the idea of naming Ion Cebanu as director of the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” is as successful as the idea of appointing him as minister of youth and sport. “The person learns things when named to a post and I don’t think that Cebanu was a bad minister. We must also take into account the constraints and the situation in which he worked. When he goes to “Moldsilva”, he will encounter many difficulties, but will soon learn to deal with them,” said the expert. In the same connection, political analyst Viorel Cibotaru, director of the European Institute for Political Studies in Moldova, said the appointment of Cebanu as director of “Moldsilva” Agency is only a speculation. As to the post of “Moldsilva” director, he said that forestry is a complicated area that requires experience and special managerial skills. “Undoubtedly, Mister Cebanu will not be able to cope from the beginning,” stated Viorel Cibotaru. According to him, Ion Cebanu didn’t show that he is able to be a representative person and that the mayors, woodmen and other agencies can trust him. “It’s not enough to have the stamp of “Moldsilva” director. This does not give one the authority to hold a post. One should have personal authority. When holding the position of minister of youth, he didn’t make himself memorable for something. He has good qualities as a man, but I don’t see him in this post and I don’t think he should accept it,” said the analyst. The director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO) Sergiu Ostaf said that a person who knows all the subtleties and difficulties faced by “Moldsilva” at present should be appointed as director of this institution. “The change of posts was made for several reasons. The first is the Liberal Party’s political interest because there is a connection of domination between Ion Cebanu and the party’s administration. Another reason is the absence of candidates and the PL has to choose from what is available. The third reason is that Ion Cebanu didn’t cope with the situation at the Ministry of Youth and Sport and a new person is needed to fix things They say this will be Octavian Ticu. But, in order not to affect the party’s image, they move the persons from one position to another, as they did in the Soviet period, when a person was not removed, but named to another, less visible post. One more argument is that this area can attract significant financial resources and a very skilled person is needed to use these resources in the party’s interests,” said the CReDO director. On February 6, the Government accepted the resignation from the post of minister of youth and sport tendered by Ion Cebanu Mihai Ghimpu confirmed earlier that Ion Cebanu is to be named as director of “Moldsilva” Agency, while his place will be taken by historian and boxer Octavian Ticu.
