The International Festival of Performing Arts BITEI-2012 has kicked off Friday in Chisinau under the slogan “Theaters come together in Chisinau”. The 10th edition of the event gathers participants from 15 countries, Info-Prim Neo reports. Fifteen shows will be staged in 10 days in five theaters in Chisinau: the National Opera and Ballet Theater “Maria Biesu”, the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, the Russian Drama Theater “A.P. Chekhov”, “Luceafarul” Theater and “Eugene Ionesco” Theater. The 15 performances will include theater, music and dance. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa stated at the opening ceremony on Friday night that the BITEI festival was supported by the Ministry for the second year and that the Ministry committed to contribute even more to the organization of the event. “It’s impossible not to support such a festival, when you know it makes you famous in the whole world”, he said. The participating countries are Spain, South Korea, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Japan, Georgia, Ukraine, Romania, the Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey, Moldova, Azerbaijan and Israel. The latter two are at their first participation.
