The state will certify the Romanian language communication skills of high school students.

Additionally, high school students who studied in minority languages and obtain a B2-level Romanian language proficiency certification will be eligible to receive a grade of 10 automatically in the Romanian language baccalaureate exam. These provisions are included in a draft law passed by Parliament in the first reading, IPN reports.

According to the proposed amendments to the Education Code, the evaluation of Romanian language communication skills for adults and high school students will be conducted through standardized methods unified at the national level.

The draft law was developed by a group of PAS deputies. According to them, the legislative changes aim to improve education quality, increase job market opportunities in line with Romanian language proficiency requirements, and ensure a transparent, fair, and modern certification process adapted to current educational needs.

The implementation of this legislative initiative will require financial expenditures of over 191,000 lei, which will be covered by the Ministry of Education and Research. The funds will be used for developing examination materials, evaluating written and oral tests.

Each year, around 400 citizens are expected to participate in the Romanian language communication skills assessment sessions.
