30,000 free of charge pairs of glasses have been provided during 2006, the press service of the Government announces, cited by Info-Prim Neo. The glasses were distributed according to the State Programme on ensuring with glasses the pensioners and the disabled persons. The programme includes purchasing 400 thousand pairs of glasses with public money, to the total sum of MDL 20 mln. On the first stage, the glasses have been partially distributed in the following raions: Briceni, Edinet, Floresti, Ocnita, Calarasi, Straseni, Causeni, Cainari, Orhei, Comrat, Ciadar-Lunga, Vulcanesti, Taraclia. The rest of the glasses for the aforementioned raions as well as for the rest of raions will be distributed during 2007. The glasses are manufactured for each person separately according to the recommendations of the doctor and are offered to the pensioners and disabled persons that have such problems. Three teams of specialists that work in the South, Centre and the North of the country were formed. MDl 6 mln had been allotted in 2006 for the purchase of the glasses. The rest of the money will be used during 2007.
